Why Visit Agra (Uttar Pradesh)

Agra's Mughal legacy dates to the 16th century. Beyond the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the "Baby Taj," is an earlier, intricate marble masterpiece. These are truly top attractions in Agra, showcasing exquisite Indo-Islamic architecture.

The Yamuna River flows through Agra, enhancing its historical sites. Consider visiting Agra to explore Mehtab Bagh, a 17th-century Mughal garden offering a perfect symmetrical view of the Taj Mahal from across the river, especially at sunset. An evening stroll near Sadar Bazaar reveals local life.

What is Agra famous for culinary-wise? Its sweet, translucent petha is iconic, with varieties beyond traditional white to include saffron and chocolate. For breakfast, try Bedai with Aloo Sabzi-a crispy puri served with spicy potato curry-a true local delight.

A city full of history and great food

Agra Fort blew my mind - so much to see and the history behind it is fascinating. The local dal moth snack is addictive. Street food here is cheap and really good. Loved every bit of the trip, way more to do than just one landmark.

Worth every bit of the journey

Came all the way from Sydney and it was 100% worth it. The Taj at sunrise is something else entirely. The light changes every few minutes and it looks different each time. Petha from the local shops near the entrance is lovely too. Great experience overall.

Rachel H. - Sydney, Australia - February 3, 2026

Great place for history lovers

Agra Fort alone is reason enough to visit. We spent ages just walking around and taking it all in. The Mughal architecture is stunning and unlike anything back home. Street food around Kinari Bazaar is fantastic - spicy, cheap and absolutely delicious.

Yuki N. - Tokyo, Japan - January 22, 2026

Incredible cultural experience

The sheer scale of the monuments here is hard to describe. Itmad-ud-Daulah is often overlooked but really gorgeous up close. Local guides are knowledgeable and friendly. The city is busy and loud but that's part of the experience - full of life and color.

Carlos B. - Madrid, Spain - January 5, 2026

Agra surprised the whole family

Traveled with kids and they were completely amazed. The Taj Mahal left everyone speechless. Loved wandering through Kinari Bazaar for souvenirs. Petha sweets were a hit with the little ones. Good budget options for food and transport if you plan ahead.
